Protein Brownies Recipe – Healthy Chocolate Brownies with Black Beans
These Protein Brownies are a healthier, protein-packed twist on classic chocolate brownies. Made with black beans, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips, this easy recipe creates soft, cake-like brownies that are rich in flavour, high in protein, and perfect for a guilt-free snack or dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 x 400g tin black beans
- 125 g butter
- 3 eggs
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- Drain black beans and wash under running water. Melt butter and combine with black beans in a food processor until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs until well combined.
- Add the butter and pureed black beans, cocoa powder, plain flour, and sugar to the bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
For a more intense chocolate flavour, increase cocoa powder to 3 tbsp.
You can add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a salted chocolate twist.
