Beef and Broccoli Stir-fry

This Beef and Broccoli Stir-fry is a classic combination of tender beef strips and crisp broccoli, tossed in a savory garlic and ginger sauce. It’s a quick, nutritious meal that’s perfect for busy nights.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g beef rump steak sliced thinly
  • 300 g broccoli florets
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce optional
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over high heat. Add the beef strips and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Add onion, garlic, ginger, and broccoli to the same pan. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the broccoli is tender but still crisp.
  • Return the beef to the pan and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and beef stock. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well-coated.
  • Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

Notes:
For extra flavour, marinate the beef in soy sauce and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking.
You can also add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra veggies.
Pairs well with: Steamed rice or soba noodles.
Storage:
Fridge: Up to 3 days.
Freezer: Up to 2 months. Reheat in a pan or microwave.
Gluten-Free Option: Use tamari instead of soy sauce.
Dairy-Free Option: This recipe is naturally dairy-free.
Vegetarian Option: Replace the beef with firm tofu or tempeh.
